PHOTOenhancement
Most of the time, photographs show their age: they become scratched and bent, their colors fade, and edges get torn. Other times, a photo may not have been shot under the most ideal conditions. These things can be challenging when you want to use an old photograph in a professional publication.
While there are limits to what digital restoration can do, I still strive to make old photographs look as good as possible for use in print and other projects. For this I have:
- Removed creases, scratches, and tears.
- Adjusted color balance and contrast to undo fading.
- Restored edges and missing segments of pictures by hand.
A historic church in Sopchoppy, Florida. The restored version of this photo is currently on display by the town’s historic society.
Florida School for the Blind, school band. One of many old photos that I restored for print in “A Time to Speak” by Ava Lee Holly.
One of many photos restored for use in the book “The Art of the Cube: The Rubik’s Cube Designs of Fred Holly”. This one required the edges of the design to be re-built by hand.
