Cafepress Store Design

Tools Used: Photoshop, HTML, CSS

WTGifts is the store associated with WordThunder.com. It’s run as a Cafepress site, and sells a variety of unique designs. Designing for a CafePress site brings with it some unique challenges. The site only allows you so much flexibility in defining the design’s HTML and CSS, code, so some sacrifices have to be made when planning a design for it. However, there’s constraints aren’t too hard to work with, and through them I was able to shape the overall layout into the format that I wanted here.

The design resembles a scroll of paper draping down from a ribbon. One example of a compromise that had to be made in order to work with CafePress’s site was the white background for the paper. This is a requirement because of the way CafePress displays their preview images.
